Americans are expected to spend about 18.6 billion dollars for this year’s Easter. A new time record has been made this year, last one made on 2016 for 17.3 billion dollars. This year’s Easter has also made it to be the second-highest leveled on the spending record.
Easter’s spending was more than Halloween’s on 2016. More candy was bought for Easter than it is for Halloween. Americans spend about 2.4 billion dollars on Easter, while for Halloween about 2.1 billion dollars’ worth of candy was bought.
For each holiday of Easter, Americans spend about 170.1 million dollars on flowers, gifts, decorations, etc., while Halloween is 142.7 million dollars on costumes and candy.
Easter is also known to be the king of candy holiday, because of all the candy that is bought. In 2015, 823 million dollars’ worth of candy was bought by Americans. The most bought candy was crème-filled eggs, chocolate rabbits, and colored marshmallow Peeps, according to the Nielsen data.
The week before Easter about 146 million pounds are bought. The candy is also cheaper during Easter then on other holidays.
According to a survey from National Retail Federation, 80 percent of Americans celebrated Easter, which was estimated for about 17.3 billion dollars to be spent for Easter. Each American spends about 152 dollars per person.
About 5.7 billion dollars will be spent on food, plus 2.6 billion dollars for candy for this year’s Easter. About 3.2 billion dollars is spent for clothes to wear on Easter. 2.9 billion dollars is spent on gifts another 1.3 billion dollars is spent on flowers. And 1.1 billion on decorations and gift cards about 780 million dollars.
