Since the age of seven senior Brianna Hernandez has had the dream to play college softball and become a nurse and now her dream is no longer a dream anymore.

On January 20th, Dodge City Community College helped Brianna fulfill not one but both of her dreams. Hernandez said she began speaking with the Dodge City coaching staff back in October.

“I picked Dodge City over other colleges because they let me fulfill both of my dreams: playing college ball and doing the nursing program,” Hernandez said.

Support is sometimes the most important thing to reach goals and dreams, and because of it she got to live life the way she has always wanted. Hernandez is also looking back at her teammates and high school career.

“One thing I’m going to miss about high school ball is playing with friends I grew up with and being close to all the girls on my team,” Hernandez said.

Hernandez always played second base, but when she accepted a move to third base she had tireless work ethnicity and did her very best at the position. She has also always wanted to be a nurse because she likes the fact that she gets too help other people.

Then it finally came time for Hernandez to go to the cafeteria and put pen to paper in front of friends and family.

“I felt excited and happy because I finally achieved one of my goals and I was also proud because I was the one that did it nobody else just me with the support from my friends and family,” Hernandez said.

Playing since the age of seven and never quitting show how committed to the sport Brianna is. There are so many reasons why she never quit, but a simple reason is because of the mad love she has for the sport.

“I’m not a quitter and if I quit then I wouldn’t have been able to go to Dodge City CC in Kansas,” Hernandez said.

Being a senior in high school and already having college lined up and saying a college want her to play for them is every persons dream, but now Brianna gets to live her dream without anyone getting in the way.
