The lights were set and the performers ready. Students flocked into the auditorium from their eighth periods and tickets in hand to witness the talents fellow students had to offer.
This year, we finally got a talent show. Last year, unfortunately we had to cancel the talent show due to lack of sign ups. It is wonderful to see the confidence in our students to sign up and try something new. The show turned out to be a wild success
From the perspective of the stage there seemed to be not an empty seat in sight and every cheer was one of praise for everybody’s performance.
The performances also delivered in a big way.
“Luckily our judges are involved in band, dance, and choir, so they know what quality is.” said Louis Hoops, our media specialist and the man behind the formation of this year’s talent show. Mrs. Teaff was also beneficial behind the scenes as her and STUCO members worked the curtain, scene changes, and lights and sound with the help of some Freshmen theater students. Further showing the talent of students far beyond the performance level.
The show concluded with a fiery performance of “Dark Side” by Tim Minchin performed by Aiden Obando, complete with a ridiculous outfit and no shoes.
When the show concluded, judges had a brief moment to deliberate their responses and to keep the remaining students entertained, our very own choir performed a couple of pieces.
Finally, the judges reached their decision.
Jade Martin won first place with the big cash prize, Aiden Obando took second place with a cash prize of 30$ and Quinn Stevenson took third place with an additional cash prize.
Since the show took place on Valentine’s day before the weekend, it was a wonderful way for students to hang out before hanging out with their valentine.
