On August 9th, 2023, Taylor Swift announced that she was going to re-release her highly anticipated album “1989”, adding to the collection of other re-recorded albums such as Speak Now (TV), Red (TV), and Fearless (TV). This special announcement comes as part of Swift’s ongoing process to regain control over her albums she signed away the rights to in 2005.
Swift took to her social media platforms to announce to her fans, known as the Swifties, that the next re-recording will in fact be “1989” (Taylor’s Version). Swift posted the new album cover with the message: “Surprise!! 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is on its way to you SOON! The 1989 album changed my life in countless ways, and it fills me with such excitement to announce that my version of it will be out on October 27th. To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I’ve ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane. I can’t believe they were ever left behind.”.
Swift’s album “1989” was originally released under the previous label: Big Machine Label Group under Scooter Braun. In 2019, Swift made this feud more public by releasing her own statement informing her fans about what has been happening behind the scenes concerning her albums being owned by Big Machine Records and her upcoming plans for the future.
As Taylor Swift continues to rewrite the rules of the music industry, Swifties will continue to solve her puzzles and riddles to find out the next re-recording. With “Reputation” and her debut album “Taylor Swift” as the only albums left that have yet to be released, Swifties are filled with anticipation for the upcoming releases, with the only question being: Which one comes next?
