Yearbook and newspaper are two classes that are offered, but can only be taken if you have taken Journalism 1. Both yearbook and newspaper are taught by Mrs. Garcia. Yearbook students work all year on making the yearbook, and newspaper students write for the school newspaper.
In yearbook, students make the yearbook by taking pictures and interviewing other students from various activities and groups to document the whole school year. Like yearbook, newspaper also requires students to interview other students, but to write their stories about current events at school.
Gwendolyn Johnson in yearbook said, “The yearbook community is so [welcoming], it’s almost impossible to not be friends with everyone in the classroom. Yearbook is also a constant job, so it’s impossible to be bored when you have free time in class, which I love.” Evelyn Strong, the editor of newspaper added, “My favorite thing about newspaper is the camaraderie we all have together. We’re really a family. I feel like this is such a special place and is a great way to have relationships that last past high school.”
