Lubbock High’s Varsity tennis team had a grand win over Wylie HS last week! With some students going undefeated, this win was a massive accomplishment!
Last week, on our very own courts, LHS’s varsity team beat out Wylie in 11 out of 20 games- over half the matches won by our players! This has never been done, as Wylie has a notoriously strong tennis team. Their stats include being ranked third in the state and having an average UTR rating* of 10.0. However, they were brought to their knees with our Varsity team’s hard work and dedication. With this massive win, Lubbock High has set its sights on bigger goals, working and training harder to win their sets.
The Varsity team is very proud of themselves, and is proud of current junior and Varsity tennis member Parth Mittal, who had an overwhelming victory in his matches, going undefeated! Parth, who has been playing tennis since elementary school is a proud Westerner and will continue to make Lubbock High proud.
Senior Jian Seo had lots to say about the win, commenting that it was a “great match” with “high energy and intense atmosphere”. A tennis athlete since elementary school, he was grateful for the opportunity to play against such strong opponents and hoped to practice harder to bring Lubbock High to victory.
Last week was a grand accomplishment, and with more matches coming up soon, we hope to see more tennis Westerners winning their matches and making history!
