Lubbock High School’s last home game and senior night were October 26th this year, and as Joseph Cabrera, an IB senior says, “it was a senior night like no other”.
The night was bittersweet for not only the student section but those on the field and track as well. Many tears were shed both during the game and afterward during the walk. For the first time this year, the senior rough riders were able to cheer together without the juniors, and many of the cheer and pom seniors either did a special dance or had sashes commemorating their time at Lubbock High.
Even though the Lubbock High football team lost the game, they put up a great fight and at the end of the day the student section was proud to say they went to Lubbock High. After the senior walk, I (a rough rider) approached a couple of the students in the student section and was happy to hear Kylie, an AP Senior, ask: “Did you hear us singing?”. Those of us walking the field were expecting a song to be played, and when it wasn’t we were disappointed. However, when the student section realized this they began singing to us, which ultimately made the night better.
