Our Pom is a highly talented dance team known to participate in Pep rallies, Football games, basketball games and in competitions. Their dance styles cover a wide range of jazz, ballet, hip hop, contemporary, and lyrical. Pom is a journey that involves teamwork and dance style. The members of the team express their talent not only in their performances but also through their ability to tell stories through dance and choreography.There are many benefits of having a Pom squad in Lubbock high. One of the reasons is they allow students to connect with emotions and tell stories through dance.

  Hannah Gonzales, Junior, says that “Pom is a place where I can passionately dance with my closest friends.”. Being a part of Pom can also teach students discipline, dedication, and teamwork, as they learn together to create impressive choregraphies in addition, it can also give the student’s self-confidence. Pom is an amazing community in Lubbock high, another reason is being part of Pom can offer opportunities to perform at competitions or local events. Overall, Pom can provide students with a positive and exciting experience that can benefit them in many ways. Karleigh Babcock, Senior, says that “Pom is important to me because I am able to perform for my school and I have the best coach ever!! In addition, a dance team can help foster a community of students who share a common passion for dance, helping to build relationships within the team can also encourage encouragement from their peers.

Jillian Gaona, junior,  says that “Pom is a pillar within our community in which the members are able to express themselves and give back to the community”. Within the community it also adds collaboration,leadership, and friendship, which can benefit them both in and after high school. Pom is a great activity to do when you want to dance and show off your talents. During pep rallies, having a pom squad is a vital key to greatness due to the enthusiasm and energy they bring. In addition to bringing energy to our pep rallies, during the Varsity Football games, our pom squad performs a choreographed  routine during half time which ignites energy within the crowd and gets them excited for the second half of the game. Ella Maria Webb said ¨ “Pom is important to me because I get to do what I love with all of my friends! I love getting to cheer on the football team and the basketball team and be involved in the school! I also love getting to go to competitions and go on trips with all of my friends!” Overall Pom is a great experience to express your emotions and passion for Dance.
