This Thursday the LHS cross country team headed to Amarillo to participate in district. Our boys varsity team has won second place at the district meet and qualified for regionals.
Across the whole school year, our cross country team has participated in 7 different meets, and boy’s varsity is ready for another one on Oct 21/22, and if they qualify, one more on Nov 1-2nd.
However, for the girl’s cross country team, the season has already ended.
“Cross country is definitely one of the hardest sports we have here”, says Freshman JV runner Sam Puente.
The first cross country meet this season was on August 17th, and our most recent one being today October 10th, With the dates in between being August 22nd, September 7th, September 14th, September 28th and October 3rd.
For today’s District meet, runners had to run 3.2 Miles on a course at Amarillo, with the quickest varsity runner being Arturo Rodriguez getting second place for the race.
Our cross country team has worked hard to be the best and get good placement against other schools all season long, and it is admirable how far our team has gone.
