Asta Lektzian, in junior year, an aspiring artist is looking forward to working a job that allows her to be as creative as she can be. Though junior year has been quite stressful she still has found time to create graphite drawings when she can.
Asta is taking AP art and is working on a portfolio for that class and is enjoying it immensely. “So in the end it should be a cohesive piece.” Asta said, “Basically a bunch of art pieces that all relate to the general theme.” She also spoke about how “It’s very interesting how one piece of art can be interpreted in any number of ways depending on who you are and how you feel. You can project just about any piece of you into art and I think that’s really cool.”
Asta has been playing violin for 10 years and has been in orchestra for 6 years. “We are off to a good start, we are preparing 2 pieces for our upcoming concert on the 30th. We also just finished all-region auditions.” Asta said. “I love going to orchestra because I love seeing my friends and Mr. Anaya. It’s a very safe place and I always feel at ease and welcomed.” She states “I love the feeling at the end when we’re playing on stage and everything just comes together, it’s where everything clicks for people and we’re all trying our hardest to play our best because we have friends or family watching us and we just want to impress them.”
When asked about her support system and influences on her life Asta stated “I’m very fortunate to have parents who care about me and are very supportive and I like to think I choose my friends wisely. I don’t stay friends with people who I feel pressured by or do things I’m heavily against.” She also said “Honestly I really admire the people around me like my close friends and family because they’re the people who inspire me to keep going and encourage me to keep trying and achieving new goals. Without them, I wouldn’t be the person I am today.”
