After careful consideration, administration has decided on a new bathroom policy utilizing Smart Pass. Last year held some difficulties regarding bathroom usage. Many students would be found roaming the halls or vaping, which in turn would cause a whole plethora of problems inside the classroom for teachers and students.
“Every school does parent surveys,” Associate Principal Amy Estrada said. “Some of the parent feedback was that restrooms were unsafe during passing period.
Students originally had some push back regarding the new bathroom policy.
“I mean it’s not my favorite but if it solves the problem, then I see no problem with it” Freshman Fabian LeZuniga said.
“I think the issue it’s trying to solve is very real, but Smart Pass is a very extreme way to do it.” Junior Mason Whittie said.
“Seven minutes is not enough. Period. The End.” Senior John Klein said.
All students are advised, however; the official policy is not meant to prohibit usage of the restroom.
“Students can use the restroom during class. After the first five minutes they can use one of their allotted passes and go to the restroom.” Amy Estrada said. “Bathrooms will remain locked during the passing period.”
Students must understand that this is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students during class and passing period.
“Just safety.” Amy Estrada said.
