As the season pushes on, the Girls JV and Freshman Basketball teams are showing their growth as a team, and have experienced a mix of success and failure.
This past week, the freshman girls basketball team played Lubbock Cooper, Amarillo, and Monterey. Each game helped players to enhance their skills and work better as a team.
Alexandra Wood, a freshman, stated that, “My favorite part of the team is getting to build new friendships with my teammates and getting to know them better and become a family.”
During the Monterey game, LHS only had six players, meaning that their manager, Aniyah, was able to step in and show up for the team.
Before the season ends the freshman team hopes to get in some more wins, with their current match record at 2-18.
The JV team is also proving their hard work and dedication, with their match record of 6-12. The team is currently striving to build their team chemistry and win more. They took the win against Caprock High School. “It was the highlight of our year because we all put in our best and that is what we were striving for all season,” Donntasha Barner said. “We have really begun to start playing as a team.”
